Two sweet eyes, a fiery mane of hair (we are too shy to mention her hot body) and the name of the Goddess of Wisdom herself.
Metis Di Meo, italian showgirl, actress and lovely person tout court was so kind as to have an interview with your favourite Online Fashion Outlet (or so we hope).
What we got is a delightful glimpse of her humanity and wits.
Realvanity: You are well known to the wide public for the italian “Dancing with the Star” show, but your artistic resume is rich and varied...
Metis di Meo: I started working as a young girl...
After several years as a theatrical actress I began working as announcer and show host all around Italy (premières, events, concerts and such). Then my first screen test in Rai, for a show with the famous italian showman Pippo Baudo. Those were the frantic days of my high school diploma (which I aced, for the record).
That show never came to be, but I still got hired for the popular sunday afternoon show “Domenica In”, with Massimo Giletti.. It was my very first live show for the national network, I still remember it with some emotion: I got to interview several personalities, ranging from soubrettes to important politicians. In the meantime , I started working in many other TV programs for different networks.
…As a matter of fact I recently have had the opportunity to work with Pippo Baudo during the “ Gran Gala’ del Made in Italy”... A long awaited honour!
Realvanity: One of your many activities is particularly prominent: your work for “Mamma Italia”, the NGO that supports children in need in several poor countries. Why did you decide to support this specific charity?
Metis: It’s a topic I hold dear. I have always dealt with children and I have always loved writing TV programs for kids of every age. I also have a lovely 15 years old brother and many friends and relatives who actively support humanitarian organizations in third world countries.
Children’s safety is an absolute asset: our future depends on it. Everyone’s concerned about the symptoms (crime, unemployment, poverty) but few have the vision to address the cause of the issues of the 3rd world countries.
Mamma Italia has been a natural choice . President Nicola Paparusso is concerned with the well-being of children worldwide and he has been working hard to convey the right message: that children are as important as the world’s VIPs.
Realvanity: And now, for something completely different: this is a fashion website after all... How do you feel about fashion (sort of a rethorical question, I am afraid).
Metis: I’m an extremely colourful and cheerful individual and I always try to give an original twist to what I wear.
I must add that my wardrobe is more akin to a theatre’s costume workshop: I have dresses ranging from the 18th century style to ultra-modern. You may dig up hand-made corsets, Madonna-esque sequin-spangled lingerie or retro pin-up dresses.
Everything suits my current mood – I can be quite theatrical in my style.
I don’t love little trinkets or jewelry, I prefer striking clothes with essential details – unique creations instead of major brands.
Obviously I just love going out in jeans and t-shirt.
Realvanity: How do you feel about new technologies? Have you ever bough fashion online?
Metis: Love and hate, basically. I have 3 cell phones and I can’t stand any of them, nor can I suffer the ubiquitous presence of palm and lap computers, the continual crave for information.
Technology has to be managed carefully, or it can devolve into a dangerous addiction.
If you can use it, it’s a wonderful gateway to the world, that can unlock lots of opportunities.
That’s what online purchases are all about: it’s fast and easy – the trick is knowing the best sites such as Realvanity.com. The supply is extremely varied and the prices are competitive – all the advantages of shopping in malls minus the parking issues!
Realvanity: What are your future projects?
Metis: I recently shot two movies “Maschi contro Femmine”(Males Vs. Females) and “Femmine contro Maschi” (Females Vs. Males), both directed by Fausto Brizzi. The cast features a lot of big names: Bisio, Brilli, Cortellesi, De Luigi, Solfrizzi, Letizzetto, Ocone, Ficarra e Picone, Preziosi, Vaporidis. Of course there will be a lot of big news about my TV appearences... But these are kind of a secret... When I’ll be allowed to speak about it you will be the first to know.
